Budget Preparation & Approval

The City’s fiscal year is January 1 through December 31, with the annual budget approved by the Board of Aldermen before year end.  The City has 4 different funds—general, debt service, sewer and street.  After careful evaluation of estimated revenues and expenses for the year, the budget is prepared with consideration of responsible financial management and the City’s plans for the upcoming year.  The budget can be amended, from time-to-time, with approval of the Board of Aldermen as financial plans may change and the need arises to adjust the budget.
